Storm preparation tips & resources from the San Marino Fire Department

Storm Advisory

The City of San Marino is expected to be impacted by a strong storm which will bring intermittent periods of heavy rain and potential flooding.
 
NOAA’S NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE
A trough will be over the Great Basin today. A large storm will form over the Pacific Northwest Tuesday and then drop south into Northern California Thursday. This storm will move east into the Northern Great Basin Friday. A weaker storm from the Gulf of Alaska will set up off the coast of the Pacific Northwest this weekend.
 
Showers and isolated thunderstorms will start across Central California Tuesday evening and across Southern California Wednesday morning.
The shower and thunderstorm activity will continue through Thursday night.
Most foothill and mountain locations will receive between 2 and 4 inches of rainfall and most coastal and valley locations will receive between 1 and 2 inches of rainfall Tuesday evening through Thursday night.
Temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees below normal Wednesday through Friday.
 
The City of San Marino is providing self-fill and pre-filled sandbags to residents and business owners in two locations.  These sandbags are not for contractors.
 
  1. Self-fill bags (sand and bags provided separately): Stoneman Recreation Center, 1560 Pasqualito Drive
  2. Pre-filled bags (by appointment only - contact Public Works at 626-300-0765): Public Works Corporation Yard (use Roanoke Road entrance behind City Hall) San Marino City Hall, 2200 Huntington Drive
