TELECOMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY - Back-Up Phone Number Provided to Callers to Newark Police Precincts During Core Switch System Upgrade 
Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose announces that due to a core switch system upgrade, callers to Newark Precincts may experience connection delays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2019 and should call: 973-733-6000 as a secondary police contact number.
During the system upgrade, 911 service will not be affected and will remain in service as usual. Callers to either of the Newark Police Division’s seven precincts, may experience intermittent connection delays while the upgrade is underway, however.
Director Ambrose thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding any criminal or suspicious information to call the Department's 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). This line will not be affected by the core switch system upgrade. All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
