Boil Advisory for Customers in Welcome

Wednesday, November 20, 2019 St.James #2(LA1093005) has to make repairs to the waterline and because of this, the water produced by our water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality.

Therefore, as a precaution, the water system is issuing a boil advisory effective immediately for water customers in Welcome which will affect customers on Mill Street, King View Street, Jerry Woods Road, Monconduit Road, Jones Road, Jones Street, Pecan Street, Geason Street, LaBeouf/Breaud St, Villavaso St, Big Boy Street, Minnie Street, Brock Road, Lapice Road, Salsburg Road, June Street, Tribbet Street, and Buena Vista Street.

This boil advisory is to remain in effect until rescinded by the water system.

It is recommended that all water customers disinfect their water before consuming it (including Fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, are using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means: boil water for two (2) minutes in a clean container. The two minutes starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. ( the flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.) Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.

The water system will resend this ball advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health - Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from my water supply system have shown our water to be safe.
