Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 11/19/2019 at 2105 hrs., his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash that occurred at the intersection of Old M205 and Cassopolis Rd, in Mason Township. 65 yr. old Cassopolis resident, William Thorley, was southbound when an oncoming vehicle crossed the center line, causing the crash. 32 yr. old Union resident, Matthew Degraff, was driving northbound on Old M205 when he crossed the center line and collided with Thorley. Thorley's vehicle was then pushed into a third vehicle, stopped in the roadway at the intersection of Cassopolis Rd and Old M205. 64 yr. old Elkhart resident Rickey Secor and the passenger, 64 yr. old Elkhart resident, Janice Secor, were in the third vehicle at the stop sign. William Thorley was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for his injuries. Matthew Degraff was transported to Elkhart General Hospital for his injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in this investigation and seat belts were worn. This case remains under investigation.
