Detectives investigating 2 separate threats to local schools: please talk to your kids about consequences of threats!
On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, Quartz Hill High School Administrators were made aware of a social media post made by a student referencing an alleged threat made by classmate earlier in the day. The social media post was immediately reported to Lancaster Sheriff Station and an investigation is underway. Both parties have been identified. The student that posted about the incident is not involved. The student that verbally made the threat has been contacted by Lancaster Sheriff’s Station. The investigation is ongoing.
A second, unrelated threat to Lancaster High School is also currently under investigation. There are no further details to release at this time.
Every threat, whether it be verbal or on social media is taken seriously and will be investigated. The resources it requires to fully investigate each individual threat is overwhelming, however it must be done. We take this time to remind parents to speak to their student of the serious consequences of their words. Not only can a student face criminal charges, there is a also the potential for civil and financial consequences.
Lancaster Sheriff’s Station will continue to work hand in hand with parents, students and faculty and our school district to ensure our schools are a safe place for all of our students to learn. We thank everyone who takes the responsibility of notifying us of incidents that occur on campus and via social media. We are all in this together as one community.
