Two local gang members were arrested for Commercial Burglary - one was also charged with violating felony probation

DATE/TIME: Tuesday, November 12, 2019 / 9:53 p.m.

INCIDENT: PC 459 – Commercial Burglary

LOCATION: 7200 Block of Osbun Road, Highland

SUSPECT(S): #1 – Donald Duane Johnson, 30-year-old transient of San Bernardino
#2 – Reynaldo Joe Perez, 40-year-old resident of San Bernardino

VICTIM: Universal Tire Shop

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at about 9:53 p.m., deputies assigned to the Highland Police Department we dispatched to the Universal Tire Shop for a report of a burglary that just occurred. Two Hispanic males wearing reflective safety vests forcibly entered the building and stole approximately $2800. in tools and cash. The suspects fled the location in a red Chevrolet Equinox with black wheels.

Through an investigation, the two suspects were identified as Donald Duane Johnson, a local gang member who is on active formal felony probation and Reynaldo Joe Perez, also a local gang member. Johnson had two active no bail arrest warrants for absconding from the San Bernardino County Probation Department.

On November 13, 2019, both suspects were arrested, and they were connected to a series of theft/vandalisms to coin machines in the local area.

Johnson and Perez were booked into the Central Detention Center for commercial burglary. Johnson was also booked for violating his probation and is being held without bail. They are both scheduled to appear in Superior Court in San Bernardino on November 18, 2019 to be arraigned for the new charges.

Johnson was previously arrested by the Highland Police Department on June 27, 2019 for his involvement in a series of commercial burglaries of local storage facilities. He was released from custody on July 10, 2019.
