Advisory

In the early morning hours of Friday, our community was targeted again and two motor vehicles were stole Please lock your vehicle doors.

Police Press Release      Date: 11/8/19

Since October there have been 3 residential burglaries all confined to the northern end of the Township in proximity to the 206 corridor. Each of the homes were in an area that had little or no street lighting. The homes all appeared unoccupied at the time of the burglary, none of the residences had lights on timers. The residents were either out for the evening or away for a few days.

During this same time frame there have been a significant number of car burglaries throughout the Township. This past weekend there were 7 reported motor vehicle burglaries. In all but 3 of these car burglaries, since the beginning of October, the cars were left unlocked while the 3 had smashed windows. All of the forcible entry motor vehicle burglaries occurred in commercial parking lots. The remainder of the car burglaries were all vehicles that were left unlocked in residential neighborhoods and driveways. Some of these vehicles had personal items in plain view such as purses that were taken, others were rummaged through in search of loose change, electronics and wallets that were taken.

In the early morning hours of Friday, 11/8/2019, our community was targeted again and two motor vehicles were stolen and one was recovered. During the theft of one of the vehicles, a residence was entered by the actor and ultimately scared off by the resident.

While these numbers don’t seem high for a community of this size, reminding our residents about crime prevention measures and awareness will hopefully prevent future incidents and lead to tips to help us solve the past incidents. Please lock your vehicle doors. Remove all valuables as this seems to be the precursor to the victims that are chosen.

The Montgomery Township Police Department is requesting the residents help and seeking information that may be beneficial to the investigation as well as the safety of our community.

Please contact Detective/Sgt. Hofacker of the Montgomery Twp. Police Department with any information at 908-533-9192. Please call 908-359-3222 or dial 911 to report any suspicious vehicles or crime in progress.
