9:45 AM – Update:
San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department identified the source of strong ammonia polluting the air as an unmaintained freezer leaking fluid. Officials have contained the source and cleared the scene.
Roadways are now open. Please drive safe and have a wonderful Sunday!

Please avoid the area of S B Street between 14th & 16th Avenues for the next 2 hours. San Mateo Police are collaborating with San Mateo Consolidated Fire on a potential hazardous material incident.
Unless an officer has asked you to evacuate, please shelter in place if you live in the immediate area. An update will follow.
