Saratoga Springs Police Department Announces New School Resource Officer

The Saratoga Springs Police Department is excited to announce the appointment of Officer Glenn Barrett to the position of School Resource Officer effective November 18th, 2019.  Officer Barrett is a 19yr member of the police department assigned to the patrol division and recently completed School Resource Officer Training at the NYS Juvenile Conference.  Officer Barrett is the senior member of the Police Department’s mounted unit and can most often be seen on Broadway aboard one of the department’s horses during the afternoon shift. Officer Barrett will be assigned to the Saratoga Springs High School where he will shadow current SRO Officer Lloyd Davis until the end of 2019 and then officially take the reins on January 1st, 2020.

Officer Lloyd Davis is a 15yr member of the Saratoga Springs Police Department and has been assigned to the Saratoga Springs High School as an SRO since 2011. Officer Davis has been a tremendous asset to the police department and school community in his role as an SRO and will be greatly missed by all when he leaves the SRO position. Officer Davis will be returning to the patrol division on January 1st, 2020.

The police department is also excited to announce two additional SRO’s, Officer Amy Evertsen and Officer Aaron Moore. Officer  Evertsen and Officer Moore are 12yr members of the Saratoga Springs Police Department.

 Officer Evertsen and Officer Moore recently completed School Resource Officer Training at the NYS Juvenile Conference.  Officer Evertsen and Officer Moore have not been assigned specific schools to date and will be used to assist Officer Barrett when needed. Having additional officers trained in an SRO capacity will be extremely beneficial should the Saratoga Springs School District decide to expand the present SRO program. Please see the below comments from the School District;

“On behalf of the entire Saratoga Springs City School District and community, I would like to thank Officer Lloyd Davis for his dedicated service as a School Resource Officer for the past nine years,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Patton.  Officer Davis has been an extremely valuable resource for our students, staff, and community.  Officer Davis has done an incredible job making personal connections with our students and helping to keep our schools safe.  We wish him all the best as he returns to his patrol position.  We are excited to welcome Patrolman Glenn Barrett to the School Resource Officer position and look forward to the experience he brings to the school district as a 19-year member of the police department,”

“Saratoga Springs High School (SSHS) appreciates the collaboration and comrade that we have had with Officer Davis for numerous years.  He has provided valuable supports and resources for our students and staff.  He has been a cornerstone of our school district, having fostered a stronger connection between school, home, and the community,” said Saratoga Springs High School Principal Michelle Tsao.  We welcome SRO Barrett to SSHS and look forward to the continued success of this valuable partnership with SSPD,

          Sincerely,
          John T. Catone
         Assistant Chief of Police
