The Jekyll Island Authority intends to continue to provide for its guests, residents, and members a well-maintained public golf facility with a customer service level commensurate with the best public golf courses.
As of the first week of November, the Jekyll Island Authority will begin discussions regarding the Golf Master Plan project, in conjunction with Vincent Design Group of Augusta, GA, the firm selected from the recent Request for Proposal (RFP) responses. The process will include opportunities for public input and the public will continue to be involved in the overall golf assessment on Jekyll Island. Public input sessions will be announced at a later date, as the project moves forward.
Golf Master Plan RFP
For background on the Golf Master Plan project, The Jekyll Island Authority has held several public meetings to secure input on the future of golf on Jekyll Island. The Authority most recently submitted a Request for Proposal for a Golf Master Plan from firms that specialized in Master Plan development, with emphasis in golf course redevelopment, layout and redesign, with an eye on future use of the golf courses and any proposed reuse of acreage.
The RFP process was the result of an assessment and recommendation from the National Golf Foundation Consulting, Inc. (NGF) of the operational and economic performance of the Jekyll Island Golf Club. A copy of the NGF report can be found at

In addition to the NGF report, a Request for Information (#240) was issued to gather information to aid in the consideration of available resources, methods, or conditions under which Respondents may be interested in assisting JIA achieve its goal of improving the Jekyll Island Golf Club. Public input sessions and public working group meetings with the JIA Board regarding the future of JIA golf were also held.
