Advisory

Trick or Treating in Janesville is still on for October 31st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm

Trick or Treating in the City of Janesville is still scheduled today from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Snow is expected to taper off later this afternoon. Citizens are asked to be extra cautious when driving the city streets during these times. Trick-or-treaters, and those accompanying them, should consider carrying or wearing a light or reflectors to increase visibility. Remember, white or light colored costumes may blend in with the snow covered ground and make you less visible to motorists.

The Janesville Police Department would like to wish citizens of Janesville a safe Halloween and remind children and parents of some additional safety tips:
• Only go to homes that are inviting visitors by having the front porch light on.
• Strips of reflective tape and a flashlight will also make you more visible.
• Make sure your costume won’t trip you or make it hard for you to see or hear.
• Wear face paint instead of masks to help with your visibility.
• Ask your parents or an older family member to walk with you as you Trick-or-Treat
• Trick-or- Treat with a group of friends.
• Trick-or- Treat in your own neighborhood on well-lit streets.
• Walk on sidewalks if all possible. Be extra-careful crossing the street at night and be sure to only cross at street corners.
• Wait until you get home to eat treats. Don’t eat anything that’s not wrapped.
• Notify the police about anything suspicious.
