News Release: Road Rage Suspect Arrested After Attacking Two Drivers

Police arrested a suspect after he went on a rampage attacking two drivers Friday evening. On Friday, October 25, 2019 at around 5:10 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a road rage incident and a battery in progress near the intersection of High Street and Hamilton Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed that a male victim in his twenties was driving southbound on High Street when he noticed a male suspect in a Ford truck driving aggressively behind him. The suspect drove past the victim and positioned his truck across both lanes of traffic blocking the victim. The suspect then exited his truck, swung his cane onto the hood of the victim’s vehicle, damaging the hood. The victim attempted to exit his vehicle, but the suspect blocked him and began striking him in the face with the cane through the driver’s side window. The suspect then got back in his truck and fled southbound on High Street. The victim sustained minor injuries to his face near his eye, but he declined medical treatment at the scene. At 5:30 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a report of a vehicle collision involving a truck that matched the description of the one involved in the road rage incident 20 minutes prior. Police arrived and learned the driver of the truck had intentionally collided with another vehicle driven by a female victim in her sixties in the 700 block of San Antonio Road. The investigation revealed the suspect rammed his truck into the victim’s car multiple times damaging it. He then exited and attempted to strike the victim numerous times with a cane while she was in the driver’s seat. The suspect pried the victim’s keys from her hands, threw them on the street, and then picked them up and placed them in his truck. Multiple drivers witnessed the encounter. Police arrested 66-year-old Kenneth Edward Greene of Valley Springs, California. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for two counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Vandalism, Robbery, Elder Abuse, and Hate Crime (all felonies). The robbery charge stems from the suspect forcefully stealing the second victim’s car keys. She was in her sixties which explains the elder abuse charge. The hate crime stems from the suspect making statements to police during the investigation indicating that his behavior toward the male victim may have been, in part, motivated by his perception of the victim’s sexual orientation. Greene’s booking photo is attached to this news release (note: the booking photo has been removed pursuant to AB994 as of December 2023).
