Power restored to Berkeley; Shutoffs not expected Tuesday

PG&E restored power to most addresses in Berkeley late this afternoon.

PG&E is not anticipating shutoffs in Alameda County until 11pm Tuesday, with a weather “all clear” expected Wednesday morning. At this time, we are not expecting the next shutoff to impact Berkeley.

The situation is dynamic and may change. Residents should still take steps to prepare for future outages:

  1. Sign up for address specific alerts from PG&E. PG&E also offers zip-code specific alerts by texting “ENROLL” to 97633.
  2. Sign up for emergency notifications from Berkeley and Alameda County at acalert.org.
  3. Be prepared for future outages. Have a disaster kit and make a family emergency plan. Find information on preparing for power shutoffs at cityofberkeley.info/psps.

Anyone with questions about power restoration should contact PG&E.

3-1-1 (or 510-981-2489) continues to be a non-emergency resource for questions. Libraries continue to be a source for charging, water, and wifi.

Anyone experiencing an emergency should contact 9-1-1.

Air quality in Berkeley is rated “moderate” at this time. However, conditions can change rapidly due to wind and other factors. Residents should check for updates at airnow.gov and take precautions based on their own health.

Find information on how to prepare for poor air quality smoke events and steps you can take to protect your health during an event at cityofberkeley.info/air-quality.

We thank the City of Berkeley police, fire, and staff across all departments who have been working around the clock since Thursday to respond to impacts from the PG&E power shutoff as well as heavy winds, high fire danger, and possible air quality issues due to wildfire smoke.
