The Pekin Police Department has once again enrolled a fun nationwide K9 contest for a $5,000 grant. The contest starts today with nominations through November 3rd. 7 grant winners are determined by popular vote. You can vote every 24 hours by going to https://www.aftermath.com/k9-grant-midwest-2019
This year we are featuring our new K9, BAS. BAS is a 3-year old Dutch Shepherd from the Netherlands. K9 BAS is trained in narcotic detection, tracking/trailing, article searches, criminal apprehension, and handler protection. K9 Team BAS has been in service since May of 2019.
We are hoping the community will join us in having little bit of fun through this friendly competition. This, also, allows us to engage with the community while showing off our new K9 Bas and his handler, Officer Ryan Smith. We have had so much community support in the past and look forward to seeing the same enthusiasm as before. Let’s take home 1st place again this year!
You can vote every day by each e-mail address you have. We are excited at the prospect of winning one of these great prizes which will be used to help fund our K9 program.
