Advisory

PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff 10/26/19-10/28/19

UPDATE: As of 10pm on 10/26/19, some areas in El Cerrito lost power due to the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). It is unknown at this time how many households are affected or when power will be restored.

The only traffic signal light affected at this time is the intersection of Fairmount Avenue and Colusa Ave. Temporary stop signs have been posted as a reminder to drivers that when a traffic signal light is out you must treat it as a stop sign.

If any further information becomes available through PG&E regarding the outage, we will provide more updates.

UPDATE: PG&E is now estimating that the shutoff will begin in our area at 7pm. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them.

The El Cerrito Police Department is preparing for the confirmed PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff event this weekend. The shutoff is expected from Saturday, October 26th at 6pm through Monday, October 28th at 2pm.

We have increased patrol staffing to provide additional resources to affected areas to ensure that our community remains safe.

The City of El Cerrito has setup el-cerrito.org/poweroutage and will update with new information as it is received. The El Cerrito Police Department will also publish updates on our social media accounts as we receive additional information.
