Advisory

Possible Power Shutoffs over the Weekend

Heavy winds and high fire danger conditions over the weekend will result in preventive power shutoffs for nearly 50,000 PG&E customers throughout Contra Costa County, and as many as 6,000 in Walnut Creek alone. PG&E is notifying customers that in some cases, electrical power may be shut off as early as 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. At this time, we don't have any information if the Walnut Creek customers will lose power that early. Rossmoor and Northgate are areas that are expected to be most heavily impacted. City Public Works crews will be able to maintain generator support for key intersections along Ygnacio Valley Road and Oak Grove Road. At any intersection where the signals are out, you should treat it as a 4-way stop. We expect there to be several Community Resource Centers available to Walnut Creek residents starting Saturday afternoon, and will post locations and times as soon as they are made available to us. The best indicator of whether or not your property will be impacted is to use the address lookup tool at https://psps.ss.pge.com. We will post updates as new information becomes available.
