The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a
* Flood Advisory for... St. Tammany Parish in southeastern Louisiana... Washington Parish in southeastern Louisiana... Walthall County in southern Mississippi... Northwestern Hancock County in southern Mississippi... Pearl River County in southern Mississippi...
* Until 530 PM CDT.
* At 332 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated additional heavy rain due to showers and thunderstorms. This will cause minor flooding in the advisory area.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Slidell, Bogalusa, Picayune, Covington, Franklinton, Poplarville, Pearl River, Abita Springs, Tylertown, Varnado, Sun, Lacombe, Enon, Crossroads, Stennis Space Center, Bush, Salem, Dexter, Mcneil and Pearlington. Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area on top already saturated ground. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
* AFFECTED AREAS: WASHINGTON, LA ... HANCOCK, MS ... PEARL RIVER, MS ... WALTHALL, MS ... ST. TAMMANY, LA
Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
