Detectives & SED arrested felony probationer, Dennis Franks for the home invasion robbery on Carnesi Dr. on Oct 14th

INCIDENT: PC 212.5 – Home Invasion Robbery
LOCATIONS: 6700 Block of Di Carlo Place, Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT: **Carnesi Drive suspect - Dennis Charles Franks, 25-years-old from Highland, California (In custody)

SUMMARY:
**** UPDATE **** Thursday, October 24, 2019
Since the date of each of these robberies, several detectives form the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department have been working non-stop to identify the suspects responsible for these violent crimes.
Through investigative leads, Detectives were able to identify Dennis Charles Franks as the primary suspect responsible for the robbery on Monday, October 14, 2019, in the 13000 Block of Carnesi Drive. Franks is currently on Formal Felony Probation out of Los Angeles County for being a felon in possession of a firearm. A No Bail arrest warrant was obtained for Dennis Franks.
On Wednesday, October 23, 2019, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) located Franks at his residence in the City of Highland. As they attempted to contact Franks, he fled on foot and dropped a loaded handgun. Franks was captured after a short foot pursuit and was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives from Rancho Cucamonga Police responded to the scene and executed a search warrant at Frank’s residence, where they located property belonging to the victim.
Franks was transported back to the Rancho Cucamonga Police station for further investigation. At the conclusion of an interview with Franks, he was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for the above charges, where he is being held without bail. Franks is scheduled to be arraigned on the above charges on Monday, October 28, 2019.
Detectives believe that Franks may be responsible for other robberies and are releasing his booking photo. If anyone has any information about other criminal acts Franks may be responsible for, they are urged to contact Detectives at the Rancho Cucamonga Police.
Detectives are continuing the investigation from the Di Carlo Place robbery on Thursday, October 3, 2019, in an attempt to identify and locate the suspects responsible. As further information becomes available, detectives will provide additional details.
At this time, detectives are unable to determine if the two robberies are related.
Due to the on-going complex investigation, detectives are not releasing any further details at this time.

On Thursday, October 3, 2019 at approximately 8:50 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the 6700 block of Di Carlo Place for a report of a home invasion robbery.
Investigation revealed that several black male suspects approached the residence armed with an unknown type handgun. The suspect tied the residents up and stole numerous items from the residence.
On Monday, October 14, 2019 at approximately 7:07 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to the 13000 Block of Carnesi Drive for a report of another home invasion robbery. During this robbery, unknown black males approached the victim in the driveway, while armed with an unknown handgun, and forced the victim into the residence, where the suspects stole numerous items.
Detectives from the Rancho Cucamonga Police are actively investigating both incidents. They are working with limited leads and are requesting the assistance from the public. Due to the on-going complex investigation, we are not releasing any further details at this time.
