Lemon Donut Lover
You are going to get hungry imagining the image of the donut.
If you feel like having this donut less the sugar and calorie, try this delicious flavor. People who have a sweet tooth will definitely love this one."

What are we describing? A new flavor of gum? Your new favorite smoothie?

Actually, this is an advertisement for vaping flavors targeting their new favorite customers: teens.

Recent studies show 95% of smokers started before they were 21, most with a flavored tobacco product. There has been a 78% increase in youth vaping in the last year, with nearly all using flavored e-liquids such as the ones listed above. Four out of five kids who have used tobacco started with a flavored product. Those numbers suggest that most underaged users might never have tried vaping if tobacco tasted like tobacco.

Nicotine is one of the most toxic of all poisons. It can rewire the brain, particularly vulnerable in the developing years, from adolescence to mid-twenties. Nicotine changes the teen brain and affects attention, learning, and memory. It can worsen stressors already challenging in adolescence. In a teen's case, these changes to their brain can be permanent.

So how can you tell if your teen is vaping?
Are there sweet or fruity smells coming from behind closed doors? That might actually be nicotine hiding in vape flavors.
Are there school supplies or tech products you don’t recognize in kids’ backpacks or rooms? Did you know some vape pens, also known asd Juul Pods, are being made to look like USB flash drives. Have you come across unfamiliar chargers, coils, or batteries? These can all be signs that your teen is vaping or at least has access to vaping products.

As always, open the lines of communication with your child. Educate yourself to the dangers and warning signs of vaping. For more information, log on to www.flavorshookkids.org.
