GTPD Community Bulletin: Down Syndrome Awareness Month
https://youtu.be/Wvg0jHgq9UU
Down syndrome is a chromosomal condition that occurs when the cells divide and result in an extra chromosome 21. This alters the course of development and causes the characteristics associated with Down syndrome. A few of the common physical traits are low muscle tone, small stature, an upward slant to the eyes, and a single deep crease across the center of the palm. Some people have these characteristics in different degrees and some may not at all. Many people look at Down Syndrome as a person with disabilities but in the month of October and throughout the year #GTPD spreads awareness and celebrates their abilities. Here are a few examples of good role models who have celebrated their abilities and impacted the world.
