A 32 year old man was arrested on a Ramey warrant today in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in Fremont on August 27.
On August 27, 2019, at 3:48 p.m., a witness called 911 and reported hearing shots fired from a vehicle. As officers responded to the area of Stevenson Blvd. and Farwell Dr., the witness told dispatchers that a subject in a dark colored sedan waived a gun out the window at subjects in a second vehicle. The two vehicles left in the direction of I-880 and headed northbound.
Officers arrived at the scene and located shell casings in the parking lot of a restaurant. Video evidence and witness statements, led officers to identify Christopher Andrews, a 32 year old San Leandro resident, as the suspect in the shooting.
Today, shortly before 10:00 a.m. SWAT teams from the Fremont Police Department and San Leandro Police Department took Andrews into custody at his residence, located in the 2000 block of Benedict Drive, without incident. Additional search warrants are currently being served and this case remains an active investigation. Andrews was brought to the Fremont Police Department where he is currently being interviewed by detectives. The motive behind the shooting is still under investigation.
