On 10/14/2019, detectives from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit received a report of stolen quads from a local agricultural business. During the investigation, detectives received information the stolen quads were at a residence in the 29900 block of Orange Street in Shafter. With the assistance of deputies from the North Area Substation, detectives from the Rural Crime Investigation Unit served a search warrant at a residence in the 29900 block of Orange Street. During the search of the residence, detectives located six stolen quads.
On 10/15/19, detectives developed probable cause to arrest 20-year-old Edwin Garcia from Shafter for the theft of the quads. Garcia was arrested and booked in to the Central Receiving Facility for violations of Penal Code Section 496(d) Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Vehicle Code Section 10851(a) Grand Theft Auto and PC 182(a)(1) Conspiracy.
