Sunday, October 6, 2019
Illegal Drugs Location: 3600 Block of Peacock Court
The Santa Clara Fire Department was deployed to the 3600 block of Peacock Court on the report of a strong chemical smell coming from a residence. SCPD was later dispatched to contact the residents.

Upon contact, officers contacted three subjects inside the residence, two male and one female. The female subject and one of the male subjects displayed objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. A Records check revealed the female subject was on probation with search and seizure terms. A search of the residence yielded illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia and stolen property. All three subjects were arrested.

Monday, October 7, 2019
Commercial Burglary Location: 1300 Block of Pomeroy Avenue
An observant resident contacted Public Safety Dispatchers after hearing a noise and looking outside to find a male subject looking inside several parked vehicles.

Arriving officers canvassed the area attempting to locate the subject. The subject jumped several fences and was located nearby. He was highly intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Tuesday, October 8, 2019
Mental Health Location: 1000 Block of Martin Avenue
Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Martin Avenue on the report of a male subject laying in the street, throwing rocks at passing vehicles and acting erratically.

Upon arrival, an individual matching the subject’s description was standing with a large dog, threw something at the officers, verbally challenged the officers, got inside a vehicle and closed the door. The subject did not comply with officer’s lawful orders.

The armored rescue vehicle was deployed as an officer safety measure. After approximately 30 minutes of negotiations, the subject exited the vehicle, secured the dog and peacefully surrendered to officers. Based on the subject’s statements and behavior he was placed on a hold for a mental health evaluation. The vehicle was towed, and two dogs were taken to a local shelter.

It was later determined the objects the subject had been throwing at passing motorists were donuts.

Wednesday, October 9, 2019
Drunk in Public Location: Benton Street and Railroad Avenue
Public Safety Dispatchers received multiple calls to report a heavily intoxicated male subject at Benton Street and Railroad Avenue. According to witnesses, the subject was hitting, yelling and spitting on passersby.

Upon officer arrival, the subject was detained without incident. A spit hood was placed on the subject’s head for safety reasons. Due to his aggressive behavior, officers were unable to administer a preliminary alcohol screening test. The subject did not have identification and refused to speak with the officers. He was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

Vandalism - Felony Location: 800 Block of Benton Street
Officers responded to the 800 block of Benton Street to investigate a report of a vandalism.

The victim reported an unknown subject kicked in the front door causing significant damage. While officers were on scene, a second victim on the 1100 block of Lafayette Street contacted Public Safety Dispatchers reporting a similar incident.

The male subject and his girlfriend were contacted a short distance away. The subject was arrested and transported to the Santa Clara County Jail.

PRESS RELEASE – Death Investigation
The Santa Clara Police Department is investigating the death of a male individual who fell from the top story of the parking garage at 2525 Tasman Drive.

Officers responded to the parking garage on Friday, October 11, at 6:28 p.m. Upon arrival, they found a man in his mid-20s laying on the sidewalk on the west side of the parking structure. The victim had suffered obvious traumatic injuries consistent with the fall and was pronounced at the scene.

The investigation is on-going. However, at this time, investigators have not identified any signs of foul play and believe the death to be accidental.

The victim is only being further identified as a resident of San Jose.

Saturday, October 12, 2019
Hit and Run Location: 3900 Block of Stevens Creek Boulevard
Officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard on the report of a hit and run. The Santa Clara Fire Department was also deployed due to reports of arcing wires.

Through investigation, officers learned the subject drove into a signal light, knocking it down, and fled the scene. The vehicle’s bumper and front license plate were left behind.

The scene was cleared; however, the signal lights were out at this busy intersection for a significant time causing traffic to back up. The City of San Jose Public Works Department was contacted to replace the signal light and restore signal function to the intersection. This investigation is on-going.
