INCIDENT: PC 664/187(a), Attempt Murder and PC 29800(a)(1), Felon in Possession of a Firearm

LOCATION: 7200 Block of Tippecanoe Avenue, San Bernardino

SUSPECT: Larry Washington, 49 years old, resident of San Bernardino.

VICTIM(S): Confidential


SUMMARY:
On Monday, October 14, 2019, at approximately 7:06 p.m., deputies from the Sheriff’s Central Station responded to the 7200 block of Tippecanoe Ave. in San Bernardino for a report of shots fired. The caller reported a victim was shot at the location.

Through investigation deputies identified Larry Washington as the suspect. Deputies learned Washington fled the scene with his five children, including an infant in a stroller. Several neighbors flagged down deputies, pointing them in Washington's direction. Deputies located Washington nearby and when he saw deputies, he left his children on the street and fled on foot into the backyard of a residence. While running, Washington threw a firearm into the backyard of another residence and deputies recovered it shortly after. Washington was located and taken into custody without incident. Washington was arrested for PC 664/187, attempt murder and PC 29800(a)(1), felon in possession of a firearm and booked into the Central Detention Center. He is being held on $1,000,000 bail.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was treated and later released.

Children and Family Services took custody of the children.
