PRESS INFORMATION

INCIDENT:  2019-26848 Luring (Attempted)

DATE & TIME OCCURRED:  10/10/2019 at 1645 Hours and Reported on 10/13/2019 at 1514 Hours

LOCATION OCCURRED:  The Mews/The Estates at Princeton Junction

OFFICER:  Ptl. B. Mahon#564

VICTIM:  11 year old A/M

SUSPECT:  B/M, in his 20s, clean shaven with an Afro hairstyle and operating a “weird” 4 door blue sedan

DETAILS:  On Sunday, October 13, 2019 at 1514 Hours, Ptl. Mahon investigated a past-tense Attempted Luring incident where the following was reported by the victim and his father; on Thursday, October 10, 2019 the victim (a student of the WW-P School District) took the Late Bus home from school.  After being dropped off in The Mews/Estates of Princeton Junction, the victim continued to walk home to his apartment on the sidewalk.  The victim heard a male voice ask, “Do you want any cards?” and saw the suspect sitting in his vehicle (as described above) with the driver’s side window down.  The victim ignored the male subject and continued home.  The victim alerted his father on Saturday and they reported the incident to the WWPD on 10/13/2019.

As with any incident involving a possible luring of a child, the WWPD has protocols and proactive measures in place.  Chief Garofalo, Class III Division, Detective Bureau, Patrol Division, Traffic Bureau, and our K9 Units are alerted of the incident.  In addition, the WWPD Administration has been in direct contact with the WW-P School District’s Administration of Dr. Aderhold.  Lastly, with incidents such as these, the timing of the reporting is a huge factor.  It gives us a greater opportunity to respond with all of our resources (ie Drones, K9 Units, Patrol Units, etc.) in real-time.

If anyone has any additional information that could assist in identifying the subject, you can respond anonymously to our Nixle or call (609) 799-0452.  Det. N. Barber and Det. B. Jany are also available via email at [email protected] or [email protected].
