San Leandro Community Update on PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff

Thank you everyone for your patience as we work to update you on the latest during the PG&E power shut-off event affecting many cities across California. At this time, the most recent update from PG&E is that Alameda County has been given the “all clear” to begin inspections of the impacted power lines. Before the power can be restored these inspections must take place. While power has been restored in many of the impacted areas within San Leandro, this is still expected to be a slow process, taking anywhere from a couple hours up to five days as initially reported.

The traffic signals at the impacted intersections have been restored to a normal operating condition. These intersections will continue to be monitored through this evening’s commute.

With power being restored to the San Leandro Police Department and San Leandro City Hall, the City of San Leandro Emergency Operation Center will be operating in virtual mode and we will remain in contact with PG&E and our Alameda County partners, until there are no further impacts to the San Leandro Community. City facilities will be open during business hours tomorrow and through the weekend for our library and community centers.

Our Public Wi-Fi in San Leandro is functional for residents and visitors at any one of the City's parks, City facilities, and the downtown area. Find an interactive map of our Wi-Fi coverage at: https://sanleandro.maps.arcgis.com/apps/View/index.html?appid=622030d911bd4688bbe8bef61525575a

We will continue to work with our partners at Alameda County and communicate with PG&E on the latest updates regarding the power shut-off. If you haven't already, please subscribe to AC Alert at acalert.org and follow the San Leandro Police Department's Nixle page for information.
