Active Threat Training Oct 14

On October 14, 2019, the Danville Police Department will be holding Active Threat Training. This is an annual event, held at various locations around Town. This year, the location will be St Isidore Church and school, 440 La Gonda Way.

The area will be closed to students, staff, and the public from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. for the exercises.

Residents and visitors to the area should be aware that during the training, police officers will be engaging in several scenarios on campus involving intruders or active shooters. Volunteer role players will be on scene, acting as victims, staff, or intruders.

Officers will engage in scenarios which may involve loud noises and tactical responses. Simulated ammunition (small plastic BB’s) will be used in the training exercise. A number of police and emergency services vehicles will be on hand for the exercise. No local roadways will be closed as a result.

Active Threat training allows the Danville Police Department to update and refine the skills needed to provide the community with the highest level of service possible.

Police are asking residents to avoid entering the parking lot, church or school area, or attempting to communicate with the officers involved in the training exercise.

For more information on the active threat training, contact Officers Darren Alcantara at [email protected] or Valerie Murillo at [email protected].
