PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff Update 10/10/19

PG&E started Phase 2 power shutoffs at approximately 10:30 p.m. last night (10/9/19). We do not yet know when power restoration will begin in Morgan Hill. If you still have power in Santa Clara County, PG&E is stating that you will not lose power due to this Public Safety Power Shutoff event.

Important Updates
• Due to the power shutoffs, multiple traffic signals are out throughout the City. As a reminder, intersections without a working traffic signal should be treated as a four-way stop. Please slow down and use caution in these areas.

• A Charging Center is available at the Community and Cultural Center located at 17000 Monterey Road in Morgan Hill. Electrical outlets will be available on a first come, first served basis. It is anticipated to stay available through the duration of the power shutoff.

• Please call 911 only for emergencies, not to get information. For information regarding the City of Morgan Hill’s services during a PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff please call (669) 201-2565. This line will be staffed from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and after these hours callers can leave a message to receive a return phone call.

• All schools in the Morgan Hill Unified School District are remaining open. Check with your private school administration on their power outage plans.

• The City continues to maintain water and sewer service during this outage by using emergency generators. Emergency generators will have a noise impact. We do not anticipate any interruption to water or sewer services at this time. If you get your water from a private well or rely on a private pumping system to serve your residence or business, your water and sewer service may be interrupted.

• At this time all City facilities have power and will remain open during their regular business hours.

At last night’s Special City Council meeting the Morgan Hill City Council ratified the proclamation of a local emergency. Click this link to view a video of the Special City Council meeting.
