Public Safety Power Shutdown Curfew Update

On October 9th, 2019, the City of Morgan Hill initiated a curfew for the community during the evening hours in the areas potentially affected by the Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS). Initially, this curfew was to begin at 7:00 pm and end the following morning at 6:30 am on October 10th. Soon after releasing this information, PG&E informed the affected areas that the power would be shut off sometime later in the evening. With this updated information, the City of Morgan Hill will enforce the curfew when the power is eventually shut down. The curfew will remain in effect until the following morning at 6:30 am on October 10th.

The City of Morgan Hill would like to remind our community this curfew is for public safety and will only be in effect in the areas without power. Travel by vehicle or being on your own property is fine. The goal of this curfew is to deny people with bad intent the opportunity to victimize our residents or businesses during a power outage. In addition to protecting property during the power outage, our officers will be busy responding to calls for service and ensuring public safety. We encourage neighbors to check on each other as this is not considered loitering and would not be a violation of any curfew.
