INCIDENT: Robbery, Carrying a Concealed Dirk or Dagger, Threatening Crime with Intent to Terrorize, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Felon in Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Controlled Substance While Armed
LOCATION: Desert area near Cottonwood and Pahute Avenues, Victorville
SUSPECT: Sidney Jackson, 55-year old transient
VICTIM: 38-year old female, transient
SUMMARY: On October 8, 2019, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to an armed robbery in the desert area, near Cottonwood Avenue and Pahute Avenue.
The suspect, Sidney Jackson, was upset about a conversation he was having with the female victim. The suspect pulled a machete from a sheath he was carrying and threatened to kill the victim. He took the victim’s handbag and fled to an encampment in the desert, where he was living.
Deputies located the suspect at the encampment. They found the stolen handbag and machete used in the crime. During a search of the suspect and his encampment, deputies also located a firearm, ammunition, and suspected methamphetamine. The suspect is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.
Jackson was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center for robbery, carrying a dirk or dagger, threatening a crime with intent to terrorize, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
