Police Look for Leads in Cold Case Homicide of Mother of Nine

Police Look for Leads in 30-Year-Old Murder Case
Middlesex County Acting Prosecutor Christopher L. C. Kuberiet and Chief Raymond Hayducka of the South Brunswick Police Department announced that detectives are renewing efforts to generate new leads in a 30-year-old murder case.

This week marks the 30th anniversary of the murder of a mother of nine in a convenience store in South Brunswick. The victim Aileen Morris, age 39, was working as a cashier in Krauszers Food store on Alston Road just off Route 27. On October 10, 1989 at 11:40 am a customer walked into the store and found Ms. Morris shot to death behind the counter. Detectives pieced together the timeline and believed the murder took place in a 15-minute window of opportunity. Detectives questioned friends, customers, and people who frequented the store. They followed leads all around the state, but the case remains unsolved.
Chief Raymond Hayducka, who was one of the first patrolman to
respond to the call is asking for the public’s assistance. “Time may have passed, but we know the answers are out there,” he said. “Someone reading this has that one piece of information that can help us catch the killer and they can remain anonymous,” he added.

Renee Morris, Aileen’s daughter said her mom was a hard-working
woman. “She was always working two or three jobs. There were nine of us ranging in age from 18 to 7 at the time she was killed. She was always helping other people. Our Constable Road home dinner table often had people eating at it because they had nowhere else to go,” she said.

Acting Prosecutor Kuberiet and Police Chief Hayducka are requesting
the public’s assistance and are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers or call the Detective Sergeant Mike Pellino or Detective Rick Delucia of the South Brunswick Police Department at (732) 329-4000 ext. 7496.
