Jackson Police arrest suspect in recent homicide.

Officers of the Jackson Police Department and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation arrested Keenan Murphy at approximately 10:50 am on Friday, October 4th 2019, in the area of North Highland Avenue and Old Humboldt Road.  At the time, Murphy matched the description of the shooter from the area of Fairway Boulevard and Winding Creek.  Evidence at the scene, indicated that a .40 caliber semi-automatic weapon was used in the crime.  Keenan Murphy was in possession of a .40 caliber handgun at the time of his arrest.

After a ballistic examination of the firearm, it was determined that the firearm possessed by Keenan Murphy matched shell casings recovered from Fairway Blvd.  The firearm also matched shell casings recovered from a crime scene near the intersection of Middleton Street and Neff Street in which two individuals were shot on September 25th 2019.  Keenan Murphy confessed to his involvement in both shooting incidents.

Murphy has been charged with counts of Attempted First Degree Murder and Employing a Firearm During a Dangerous Felony for shooting Joe Ramirez and Julio Almaraz on September 25th 2019.  Murphy has also been charged with the First Degree Murder of Thomas Curry and Attempted First Degree Murder of Vincent Reed Jr. as well as Employing a Firearm During a Dangerous Felony involving the incident on Fairway Boulevard.

This quick resolution to this case would not have been possible without the willingness of witnesses to tell police what they had observed and cooperate with the investigation at the earliest opportunity.

Keenan Murphy is a dangerous individual that has victimized too many people.  Now he will face the consequences of his actions.
