Parolee Arrested After Standoff

On 10/3/19, at about 9:30 p.m., Simi Valley Police Officers responded "code 3" (lights & Sirens) to a court order violation in progress. While officers were on the way to the call, a child told dispatchers that the suspect, Elroy Orduno, was chasing the child's mother.

When officers arrived, they found Orduno on the upstairs landing outside the victim's home. Orduno refused to come down from the landing and continually challenged officers to come up and get him. Orduno also threatened to physically harm officers.

Wanting to avoid unnecessary injury to the suspect and officers, a negotiator was called in to attempt to convince Orduno to surrender peacefully. Further investigation revealed that Orduno was on parole for Domestic Violence, so they contacted the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). CDCR authorized SVPD officers to take Orduno into custody for violating the terms of his parole.

After attempting to convince Orduno to come down for more than an hour, officers used a less lethal weapon and a police K-9 to take Orduno into custody. One officer suffered a minor injury during the arrest.

Orduno was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital and booked at the Ventura County Main Jail

Orduno was booked for:
3056 P.C. Violation of Parole
273.6 P.C. Violation of Domestic Court Order
69 P.C. Resisting Executive Officer
243(e)(1) P.C. Domestic Violence
148(a)(1) P.C. Resisting Arrest
