Seven people arrested during six separate stolen vehicle investigations

Case 19-33878:
 
At 6:36 PM on September 19, 2019, a 2002 white Toyota Sequoia was reported as stolen to APD.   The vehicle was parked outside a residence on the 10000-block of Whale Bay Circle when it was taken.
 
At 3:07 AM on September 24th a citizen called APD Dispatch to report a suspicious occupied vehicle on the 4600-block of Juneau Street.  The caller stated a person got out of the vehicle and appeared to be changing the license plates.
 
Upon arrival officers located the Toyota parked in a lot between two apartment complexes.  The driver, 26-year-old Keeton A. M. Kirlin, initially refused to comply with officers’ commands. He continually opened and shut the vehicle door.  After another officer arrived and used his patrol car to help block in the vehicle.  After that Kirlin exited and was taken into custody without further incident. The female passenger, 26-year-old Roseanna A. Baehm, complied with instructions and was taken into custody.  Both were transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning.  A computer check confirmed the Toyota they were in had been reported as stolen five days prior.
 
26-year-old Keeton A. M. Kirlin was arrested and charged with Vehicle Theft I and Theft II. 
 
26-year-old Roseanna A. Baehm was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on an existing felony warrant. She was additionally charged with Criminal Mischief V – Riding in a Stolen Vehicle.
 
Case 19-34826:
 
At 1:18 AM on September 27, 2019, Anchorage Police met with an adult male who wanted to report the theft of his utility trailer which was loaded with several thousand dollars’ worth of plywood.  The trailer was taken from private property on the 600-block of E 4th Avenue.  While the officer was speaking with the owner, the owner’s brother located the trailer and called Police Dispatch.  
 
Officers responded to Chevron Gas Station at 5th and Ingra.  They blocked in the SUV that was pulling the stolen trailer; three suspects were detained.  All of them were transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives.
 
38-year-old Shane L. Lopez was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charge of Theft II.  The other two were released without being charged.
 
Case 19-35025:
 
At 10:42 PM on September 28, 2019, a 2001 black Ford F150 was reported as stolen to APD.  The vehicle was parked outside of a residence on the 700-block of N Bunn Street when it was taken.  The owner’s roommate had stolen the keys from the owner’s purse and subsequently took the vehicle.
 
At 12:42 AM on September 29th APD Dispatch received a call from someone who stated they were following the stolen Ford in traffic in the area of E 15th Avenue and Gambell Street.  Officers responded and located the vehicle parked on the 1500-block of Juneau Street; four occupants were walking away from it.  All four were detained and transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives.
 
52-year-old Michelle A. Bennett, the victim’s roommate, was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail on the charges of Vehicle Theft I, Theft II, and Driving While License Revoked.  The other three were released without being charged.
 
Case 19-24310:
 
At 7:43 AM on July 10, 2019, a 2018 gray Jeep Renegade was reported as stolen to APD.  The vehicle was stolen while parked in front of a residence on the 2900-block of Summer Wind Court.  The key for the vehicle was inside the Jeep when it was taken.
 
At 7:36 PM on October 2nd an anonymous tip was called in to APD Dispatch regarding the location of the stolen Jeep.  Officers responded to the 6700-block of E 6th Avenue and saw people getting into the vehicle.  Officers blocked in the vehicle and took two adult females into custody.  They were transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning by detectives.
 
37-year-old Monique N. Staxx was arrested and charged with Vehicle Theft I and Theft II.  The second individual was released without being charged.
 
Case 19-35369:
 
On September 20, 2019, the owner of a 1994 green Ford pickup was at Fred Meyer at 7701 Debarr Road when he experienced a medical emergency.  He was transported to the hospital by ambulance; the truck was left behind in the parking lot.  The owner discovered the vehicle was missing on the 27th when he attempted to retrieve the truck from the store.
 
At 3:58 AM on October 3rd a mid-shift officer located the occupied stolen vehicle in the area of E 3rd Avenue and Karluk Street.   After other officers arrived in the area, they initiated a traffic stop and used their patrol vehicle to block in the Ford.  The driver did not put the truck in park, and he exited the vehicle as it was still rolling.  The driver refused to obey officers’ commands and started to walk away from the vehicle.  Eventually the driver stopped but wouldn’t comply with any of the other directives given to him.  Officers escorted the man to the ground and took him into custody.  Afterwards the other two occupants were also detained.  All three were transported to the Anchorage Police Department to be questioned by detectives. 
 
The driver, 21-year-old Brendan A. Frenzel, was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on two outstanding felony warrants.  He was additionally charged with Vehicle Theft I and Theft II.  The other two were released without being charged.
 
Case 19-35145:
 
At 5:30 AM on September 30, 2019, a 2013 Jeep Patriot was reported as stolen to APD.  The unoccupied vehicle was left running with the keys inside on the 8000-block of E 10th Avenue when it was taken.
 
At 9:28 AM on October 2nd a Traffic Unit Officer saw the stolen vehicle in the area of Chena Avenue and Stewart Street.  While waiting for backup officers to arrive, the officer watched two people get out of the Jeep and walk away.  Once other officers arrived, the two were contacted and taken into custody; a third person believed to be involved was detained shortly thereafter.  All three were transported to the Anchorage Police Department to be questioned by detectives.
 
24-year-old Breck A. Miller was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on an existing warrant. The other two were released without being charged.
