Two arrested for drug charges, child endangerment
On October 2, 2019, deputies were dispatched to the 400 block of Wilson Avenue in Oildale for the report of a four-year-old female child who was found outside, unsupervised. Deputies located the juvenile, and she led deputies to a nearby residence on Wilson Avenue. Deputies located an adult male asleep in his bed at the residence. The male was identified as 29-year-old Michael Hering. Hering was in a dating relationship with the juvenile’s mother, who was not present.
Based on evidence located at the residence, deputies found probable cause to request a search warrant. During the service of the search warrant, deputies located a large amount of methamphetamine, heroin and narcotics paraphernalia indicative of narcotics sales. The methamphetamine was in an area where the 4-year old could easily reach it. The juvenile’s mother, 27-year-old Brandi Shannon, arrived at the residence.
Both Hering and Shannon were arrested for child endangerment, being under the influence of a controlled substance and multiple narcotics related offenses. The juvenile was taken into protective custody and Child Protective Services was notified. (2019-00160229)
