Flash Flood Watch until 06:00PM
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for portions of north and central New Mexico, including the following areas: In east central New Mexico, Curry County and Roosevelt County. In southeast New Mexico, Chaves County Plains and Southwest Chaves County.
* from 6 AM MDT this morning through this afternoon
* Showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will develop over the Caprock region early this morning then spread across the remainder of southeast New Mexico through this afternoon. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches across the area will exacerbate flooding concerns due to the recent torrential rainfall from Tuesday.
* Locations that experienced flooding earlier this week will be most susceptible to additional flash flooding today, including areas from Roswell to Dexter, Hagerman, northeastward to Clovis and Portales. Rises will also impact tributaries leading to the Pecos River. Never cross a flooded roadway. Turn around don't drown.
* AFFECTED AREAS: CHAVES COUNTY PLAINS ... ROOSEVELT COUNTY ... CURRY COUNTY ... SOUTHWEST CHAVES COUNTY

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
