Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports on 10/01/19 at approximately 1625 hours, his Deputies responded to a personal injury crash on Barron Lake Road north of White Street, Howard Township, Cass County, Michigan. The Initial investigation shows UPS driver, 22 year old from Dowagiac, Casandra Zarala, was attempting to turn left into a driveway. The other vehicle driven by Kristine Mann, 58 year old of Niles, was traveling southbound with two passengers when the UPS truck turned in front of her resulting in the crash. One of the passengers, 17 year old of Niles, Kelsey Mann, was transported by ambulance to Lakeland Hospital Niles for treatment. Seat belts were worn and speed does not appear to be a factor. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash. This case remains under investigation.
