The victim of the shooting died and has been identified by the Coroner as 35-year-old Robert Perez of Wasco.

On September 30, 2019, at approximately 12:14 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies with the Wasco substation were dispatched to the alley of the 1100 block of Birch Avenue for a report of a victim of a gunshot wound.
Deputies located an adult male victim who was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene, and assumed the investigation.
There is no suspect information at this time.
