Advisory

No Burn Alert Issued

The City of Union will be under a "No Burn Alert" starting now until the morning of 9/28/2019. If the alert needs extended, we will post updates. Per the National Weather Service, current weather and ground conditions are highly susceptible to fire spread. Until the end of this alert, any type of recreational fire will be prohibited.

...ELEVATED FIRE DANGER THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING...

Very dry air has mixed down to the surface and humidity levels
have dropped to below 30%, and is less than 25% in a few areas.

Winds at 10 to 15 mph gusting to 15 to 25 mph are interacting with
the dry air and very dry ground conditions to create an enhanced
or elevated threat for fire today.

Grasses, leaf litter, and other receptive fine fuels may carry
fire that is introduced to it in a rapid manner. This means that
responding fire companies and personnel would need to be aware of
the potential for increased starts and subsequent need for
dispatches.

Please do not burn trash or initiate backyard or camp fires today.
Wait until the wind calms down and humidity recovers so that
embers would not carry far, and might land in a less receptive
area if they do.
