2nd UPDATE: #PomonaPD Arrest Made of Barricaded Suspect, 700 block of Gilbert St.

Just before midnight on Tuesday, September 24th, the Pomona Police Department responded to the 700 block of Gilbert St. regarding numerous shots fired. Officers were able to identify where the gunfire came from based on a nearby witness. The witness observed a male subject with a firearm, pull a female subject inside the residence.

The Pomona Police Department SWAT team was deployed and immediately set-up a perimeter around the location. Residents in the immediate area were evacuated and taken to a safe and secure location. After an emergency Search Warrant was obtained, the SWAT team began their announcements, ordering the occupants of the residence to exit. After approximately 10 minutes, several people to include children, exited the home. Additional announcements were made, but the male suspect and female remained inside the home.

Officers on the perimeter located an AR-15 rifle and numerous spent casings near a vehicle that had blood on it.

After multiple attempts at negotiations proved to be unsuccessful, the SWAT team deployed tear gas into the home, leading both occupants to immediately surrender.

The male suspect, 42-year-old Marco Antonio Lujan of Pomona, was placed under arrest for negligent discharge of a firearm. The investigation is still ongoing.
