Jackson Police continue to investigate an early morning shooting that claimed the lives of two individuals. Jackson Police identify twenty-five year old Cornelius Roberson and twenty-three year old Marcus Maxwell as the two individuals who were killed in the night club shooting at 45 Broadview “Club Elite”.
In the early morning hours of September 21st at approximately 2:40 a.m., officers of the Jackson Police Department responded to a shooting at Club Elite. Officers responding to the scene encountered a crowd fleeing the premises and three subjects suffering from gunshots. Two of the subjects succumbed to the gunshot injuries. The third subject was transported to a local hospital by Emergency Medical Services with potentially life-threatening injuries.
During the night of the investigation, Jackson Police recovered multiple firearms along with evidence of gambling, narcotics, and gang activity at Club Elite. The ongoing investigation also revealed evidence of illegal liquor sales. It is estimated that approximately 300 people were in attendance at Club Elite when the shooting occurred and, as yet, no one has come forward with information that would assist in solving the case.
Jackson Police Chief, Julian Wiser, is in communication with the District Attorney General Jody Pickens seeking to file a nuisance action against Club Elite. The Chief has also contacted Jackson City Attorney, Lewis Cobb, seeking any other civil action that can be taken against management/owner of the establishment.
