Arrest warrant issued for man wanted for aggravated assault shooting

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Faquir “Poppi” Parish, 27, in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on Friday, September 20, 2019.

Shortly before 6:25 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of 1st Street on a call of a shooting. Responding officers located a man who had been shot. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment and released.

Detectives investigating this incident have identified Faquir Parish as a suspect in this incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest. He faces charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

While police are actively searching for Parish, we seek the public’s help in quickly locating him as part of this investigation. He is described as 6-ft. tall and 150 lbs. He has a medium brown complexion, black hair and brown eyes.
