On September 18, 2019 at 8:19 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Columbus Market on Alta Vista Drive in Bakersfield for a report of an armed robbery.
When the deputies arrived, the suspects had already fled. The store clerk reported two black males wearing masks entered the store. One suspect was armed with a shotgun. An employee of the market grabbed the shotgun, but the suspect pulled it away, causing minor injuries.
The employee drew a handgun and fired one shot at the suspects. They then fled. It is unknown if either of the suspects was struck. See attached poster for clothes worn by suspects.
