Press Release
Our agency has received several reports from residents advising that they had dropped envelopes into the mailbox in front of the Bordentown Post Office around the Labor Day Holiday, particularly envelopes containing personal checks. The victims reported that they later found that the checks did not reach their respective destinations and were missing or they found that the checks had been altered and attempted to be deposited or passed to persons other than to whom they were originally written. The Post Office found evidence of tampering to the mailbox in front the Bordentown Post Office. Our Office has been in contact with the Bordentown Post Master and The U.S. Postal Inspectors to further investigate the thefts and fraud. If you have recently used any of the mailboxes around Bordentown City we encourage you to check your bank account activity to ensure that any checks written are accounted for. Anyone finding that their checks were compromised are asked to contact Lieutenant Shaun Lafferty at telephone #609.298.0103 x128.
