Deputy uncovers 82 grams of meth during traffic stop
Deputy Robert Watson of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Brandon Darrelle Bates, 32, address listed as Watermelon Lane in Nebo, with two counts of trafficking in methamphetamine and one count each of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance.
At 7:19 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, Watson was in the area of East Court Street, saw Bates driving a Chevrolet Cobalt and knew Bates didn’t have a valid license.
Watson stopped the car on State Street, and a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up 82.70 grams of methamphetamine.
Troopers with the N.C. Highway Patrol also issued Bates a citation for driving while license revoked.
