Advisory

Turlock High School Lockdown

On Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the School Resource Officer assigned to the Turlock High School was advised via a Turlock Unified School District radio of a possible active shooter on campus. This information was immediately broadcast to all Turlock Police Officers. All available officers responded to the Turlock High School. As the first officers arrived on campus, they made immediate entry and began searching for the alleged shooter. As additional personnel arrived (Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, CSUS PD, Ceres PD, Stanislaus County Probation Officers, State Parole Officers, Turlock Fire Department, and AMR) to the request for assistance, a secure perimeter was established. After approximately ninety minutes, Turlock Police Officers completed their search of the campus and the lockdown was lifted. There was no evidence of an active shooter and no injuries. It is believed that an unknown subject used a school radio and broadcast the hoax about an active shooter. An investigation to determine the identity of this suspect is currently underway.

Turlock Police Department would like to thank the numerous allied agencies who responded to the scene to assist during this event. “I am extremely proud of the men and women who responded quickly to the scene to ensure the safety of students and staff of Turlock High School. Their response should be a reminder to all, that Law Enforcement and Public Safety are prepared and willing to deal with threats of this nature swiftly and appropriately,” said Turlock Police Chief Nino Amirfar.
