Events: 1st Street block party, HPD promotions, 9/11 ceremony, flu vaccines for seniors

1st Street Block Party
 
On Saturday, businesses on 1st Street will host a block party on between Washington Street and Garden Street from 12 pm – 6 pm. The block party will showcase the 1st Street business district, and feature family fun activities including a petting zoo, live music, a bouncy castle, dunk tank, and more. All residents are invited to attend, free of charge.
 
Police promotions
 
All members of the community are invited to a promotion ceremony for the Hoboken Police Department. The ceremony will take place on Friday at 12:00 pm in the court room of Hoboken City Hall, 94 Washington Street.
 
Lieutenant Brian Brereton will be promoted to Captain, Sergeants Charles Kucz, Jonathan Butler and Keith Rotondi will be promoted to Lieutenant, and Police Officers Anthony Russo, Luke Zeszotarski and Roary Miller will be promoted to Sergeant.
 
9/11 Ceremony
 
As a reminder, all members of the public are invited to attend the City of Hoboken’s annual September 11th Interfaith Memorial Service. The service will take place on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. on Pier A next to the Hoboken 9/11 Memorial in the northwest area of the park.
 
Flu Vaccines for Seniors
 
On Tuesday, September 17, the City of Hoboken in conjunction with Walgreens will provide seasonal flu vaccines for senior citizens. Seniors can receive the vaccine between 2 pm and 4 pm at the Multi-Service Center (124 Grand Street) in the common room. Seniors should bring both medical and prescription insurance cards, as well as a valid photo ID. Pneumonia vaccines will also be available to seniors 65 years of age and older.
