8/02/2019 *Embezzlement
Barker Rd– An employee of a local business made several unauthorized credit card transactions during the month of July. The investigation identified the suspect who agreed to pay back the employer.

08/02/2019 *Malicious Destruction of Property
8800 Block of Garfield – A homeowner discovered her entry door had been kicked in, but did not believe entry was gained or any property was missing. The investigation revealed that a neighbor heard a female yelling and knocking at victim’s door at 2am and later this neighbor observed the same subject kicking at the victim’s entry door. The suspect has not been identified, but is described as a white, female who was a passenger in a Silver Grand Am with chrome rims.

08/05/2019 * B & E Business
6700 Block of Whitmore Lake – Owner reported that sometime between 8:30 pm on 08/02 and 6:30 am on 08/05, it appeared an unknown vehicle drove through the secured gate and entered the secured on site construction trailer. Also, suspects pried open storage tool boxes on the construction trucks. Suspects took generators, chain saws, power tools and miscellaneous hand tools. Evidence was collected and the case remains under investigation.

08/05/2019 *Trespass Notice Served
East Shore – A homeowner called police on an unwanted guest. Officers arrived to discover the subject still on the scene. The subject was advised she was not a welcomed guest and was given a trespass warning, advising she will be arrested should she return to the property.

08/05/2019 *Hit & Run
9100 Block of Earhart – A homeowner reported that sometime during the night an unknown vehicle ran off the roadway and damaged his fence and posts. If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are asked to call the Northfield Township Police Department.

08/05/2019 *Attempt Larceny from Vehicle
70 Block of Whittier St – A resident reported that he parked his 2007 GMC pickup in his driveway on Thursday 08/01 and on Monday 08/05 he discovered scratches along the tailgate as if someone was attempting to gain entry to the cargo bed of the truck. No entry was gained and no property removed from the truck. No witnesses or evidence was located at the scene.

08/06/2019 *Arrest Driving on Suspended License / Fugitive Warrant
Pine & Main St – An officer on patrol observed a stopped vehicle in the roadway. During the investigation it was determined that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license and had an outstanding warrant. The driver was arrested and the vehicle impounded.

08/06/2019 *Found Property Returned to Owner
8 Mile & U.S 23- A saw was found in the roadway and turned over to the Northfield Police. An officer determined and made contact with the owner of the saw. The saw was returned to the owner.

08/06/2019 *Felonious Assault
6200 Block of Whitmore Lake – Officers responded to a felony assault by a known suspect. When officers arrived, the suspect had left the scene and the complainant stated he was not injured. The complainant did not want to press charges and the case was closed.

08/07/2019 *Malicious Destruction of Property
300 Block of Ivy Lane –A destruction of property report was filed with the Northfield Police. The complainant stated that while attending a gathering, his vehicle tires were slashed. Video cameras captured the subject who is known to the victim. The case remains under investigation.

08/13/2019 *Illegal Dumping
Harbor Cove – Management reported that a pickup truck pulled to their dumpster and a 40 year old, white female unloaded garbage into the apartment complex dumpster. The case remains under investigation.

08/14/2019 *Assault & Battery
300 Block of Ruby Lane – Two complainants reported that there was a confrontation between them, when one was grabbed and the other was pushed falling onto the ground. The investigating officer submitted the case to the prosecutor’s office for review where charges were denied.

08/15/2019 *Arrest – Operating While Intoxicated
East North Territorial & Earhart – Officers responded to a property damage crash. During the investigation the at fault driver appeared to be under the influence of intoxicants. After performing sobriety tasks, the subject was arrested and transported to the hospital for a voluntary blood test. After receiving the lab results from the blood test, charges have been submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review.

08/17/2019 *Home Invasion
500 Block of Garnett- A homeowner reported that sometime between 08/16 11:30pm and 08/17 8:00am, someone entered the home while a homeowner slept and removed several personal items from one of the bedrooms. Officers are following up on investigative leads which suggest the victim was familiar with the suspects. The case remains under investigation and does not appear to be a random break-in.

08/18/2019 *Arrest – Driving on a Suspended License/Fugitive
Warrants
Opal & Barker Rd – An Officer observed a traffic violation (disregard stop sign). Upon stop of the driver, the driver attempted to hide his identity, but the alert officer was able to determine the true identity of the driver. The driver was driving on a suspended license and had several outstanding warrants. The driver was arrested and his vehicle impounded. A warrant request was submitted to the prosecutor’s office and the subject was advised of his outstanding warrants and released.

08/19/2019 *Larceny from Grounds
500 Block of Garnett – A resident reported that sometime between 08/11 and 08/19 someone removed her plastic wagons from behind her shed where they were stored. No investigative leads were determined. If anyone has information regarding these missing wagons, please contact the Northfield Police.

08/20/2019 *Breaking & Entering
Northfield Twp Area Library- At 10:32pm officers responded to an alarm run and discovered an open window. An interior check of the library revealed that a suspect entered, stole a cash register, and was no longer on the scene. Evidence was collected and the investigation revealed video footage had captured the incident. Photos were posted asking for the public’s help, by 08/24 a search warrant was executed and a suspect was in custody.

08/21/2019 *Hit & Run
Barker Rd & Wildwood Lake Drive- A citizen reported that at approximately 4:30 pm, he observed a Black, possible newer model Ford Explorer traveling at a high rate of speed on Barker Rd. The vehicle left the roadway, drove on the lawn and struck a GFL Environmental garbage can. The witness was unable to obtain a license plate of the reckless driver; if anyone has any information regarding this incident they are asked to call the Northfield Police Department.

08/22/2019 *Larceny of Generator
7400 Block of Nollar – A homeowner reported that his house is under construction and when he left on 08/21 at 8:00 pm his large generator was observed on his property, however upon his return on 08/22 at 2 pm the homeowner discovered his generator missing .The case has no investigative leads; anyone who may have information regarding this theft is asked to call the Northfield Police Department.

08/24/2019 * Arrest - Breaking & Entering
Polly Market – At 4:11 am an officer responded to an alarm run and discovered a broken window on the second floor. The investigation led officers to discover the seriously injured suspect at a local residence. The 27 year old suspect was transported to U of M for treatment. A search warrant was requested, executed and evidence recovered. The suspect was arrested upon release from hospital treatment.

08/ 25/2019 *Child Neglect
Main & East Shore – A citizen discovered a ½ clothed 3 year old wandering near the gas station. Officers responded and were able to determine the residence of the child. Officers located a parent who claimed to have fallen asleep on the couch. Additional issues were of concern. Child Protective Services were contacted and the child was turned over to family friend. Charges were submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review.

08/27/2019 *Larceny
5100 Block of Pontiac Trail- A homeowner reported that he believed a hired help took cash from his home. The investigation revealed a suspect and charges were submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review.

08/28/2019 *Malicious Destruction of Property
Barker Rd & U.S 23- An officer took a report of graffiti spray painted on the overpass and train bridge. There was no investigative leads at the time of the report, should anyone have information regarding this incident they are asked to call the Northfield Twp Police Department.

08/30/2019 *Arrest- Assault with intent to Murder, Felonious Assault, & Malicious Destruction of Property
Nollar Rd – A 26 year old male involved in a family argument retrieved a handgun and fired several shots at his spouse who attempted to defuse the situation between her husband and another family member. No one was injured and the firearm was eventually turned back over to the owner. The suspect drove away from the area and believed to be headed to the Wixom/Novi area. With the assistance of the Novi Police Department and the MSP Emergency Response Team a search warrant was executed and the suspect was taken into custody without further incident. Charges were submitted and authorized by the prosecutor’s office.

08/30/2019 *Arrest – Leaving the scene of a Property Accident/ Operating while Intoxicated
Main St & Margaret- A witness reported seeing a vehicle strike a parked vehicle and continue without stopping. Officers investigated the accident and discovered evidence left at the scene. Officers located the striking vehicle a few miles away with an intoxicated driver. The driver was arrested for High BAC. Charges were submitted to the prosecutor’s office for review.
