Seeing Eye Doggy Dash, Garden State Fondo Hill Climb Event, Garden State Fondo Sunday

Today and tomorrow two events will impact traffic in Morristown. The Seeing Eye will host its annual Doggy Dash 5K event which will launch from Lidgerwood Park at 9:00 am. This 5K event will close northbound James St. for approximately 15 minutes as runners make their way from Lidgerwood Parkway to Glenwood Rd. The runners will then make their way through the Windmill Pond community and into Morris Township before returning on James St. in an established running lane. The course will not be closed to vehicle traffic, however please use caution if traveling in this area tomorrow. Lidgerwood Pkwy. will be closed between James St. and Dogwood Rd. from 8:30 am until approximately 10:30 am.

Beginning at 11 am the following roads will be closed for the Garden State Fondo Hill Climb event: Ann St. entire length, Bank St. from Washington St. to Mt. Kemble Ave., and Chestnut St. from the entrance to Fort Nonsense to Western Ave. Officers will be on hand to facilitate travel to both the Senior Housing complex and to residents of the 48 Court St. apartments. The event begins at 1 pm and will last until approximately 4 pm.

Tomorrow, Sunday, beginning at 6 am several roadways in and around the Morristown Green will be closed to vehicle traffic to accommodate the start of the Garden State Fondo Cycling event. The Green will reopen at approximately 8 am, with the exception of North Park Pl. which will remain closed until approximately 8 pm Sunday evening. Speedwell Ave. southbound from Spring St. to the Green will also be closed for the duration of the event. Early St. from Prospect St. to Speedwell Ave. will be closed as well for the duration of the event. Detour signs will be posted and several uniformed police officers will be on hand to assist.
