A man is arrested after breaking into a home and stealing a set of golf clubs

INCIDENT: Residential Robbery
LOCATION: 10600 block of Opal Avenue
SUSPECT(S): Leondre Houston, 19-year-old resident of Redlands
VICTIM(S): Victim #1, 56-year-old resident of Mentone
SUMMARY: On August 26, 2019, at 7:08 a.m., deputies from the Yucaipa Sheriff's Station responded to the 10600 block of Opal Avenue in Mentone for a report of a burglary that just occurred.
Through their investigation, deputies determined the suspect threw a cinder block through a side garage window. He climbed inside, stole a set of Callaway golf clubs and exited through the overhead garage door. The homeowner came outside after hearing the glass break. The homeowner confronted the suspect in the front yard. The suspect walked away and put the stolen golf clubs into his vehicle. The homeowner attempted to retrieve the golf clubs from the vehicle, and the suspect slammed her arm in the car door, causing injury. The suspect drove from the location in a silver four-door vehicle.
Through their investigation, deputies identified the suspect as Houston, and a warrant for his arrest was obtained.
On August 27, 2019, at 1:46 p.m., the Yucaipa MET team authored a search warrant for the suspect's residence in the 900 block of Denise Avenue in Redlands. The warrant was served with the assistance of the Redlands Police Department. Houston was arrested and booked into Central Detention Center.
